Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family of our brother JOHN SAMUEL and all those who knew him. May GOD Rest His Soul.

For this upcoming weekend, Saturday June 23rd/Sunday June 24th, the College, Girls South, Boys North and Boys South Schedules has been changed due to the unfortunate circumstances.

Please check the games affected (highlighted in yellow) for the changes (in red).

Online Registration is now open for the Old Timers League.
Register now to avoid league fees. Make sure to check the Old Timers link in the menu above. Constant information regarding this league is being updated.

MAJOR CHANGES
The league has extended team registration to August 20th due to the league fees being dropped to $600. Encourage your coaches, brothers, dads, and whoever else is old to sign up now.

Players this is your chance to see your coaches, older brothers, dads, uncles, and/or that weird guy that's always at your house, play in their own league.

Monday, August 20th, 2007: Final day to register for the Old Timer’s League, please have your coach (team leader) email the league at basketball@lacopts.org noting your team name, coach’s first and last name, email address, and phone number.  Please see league website for more information.  You must also submit your league fee by this date to be considered registered.  The $600.00 league fee per team should be mailed to: The Coptic League P.O. Box 2786 Orange, CA. 92859 and made payable to “The Coptic League”.

CONGRATULATIONS

Another successful Junior High tournament has passed. The 2 day tournament which took place at St. John, West Covina this past weekend saw the POMONA WARRIORS take first place and RIVERSIDE BRAVEHEARTS take second in he boys division.

In the girls division, the BELLFLOWER KNIGHTS outlasted all teams to take first, as the COVINA EAGLES came in second.

CONGRATULATIONS to all mention 1st  & 2nd place teams and to all participating teams for a successful tournament.

MR. CLEAN MR. CLEAN...
Coaches, Players, and Fans please respect the gyms and facilities as well as the LEAGUE by cleaning up after games in the gym in the parking lot and in the restrooms.

The gyms have given us very harsh warnings with respect to how we leave the gyms after our games. The staff at ALL locations will be watching our every move and have been reporting to us which teams are leave the place a mess.

FORFEITS will be given to any teams that get called out by these gym staff members, so please avoid the drama by simply cleaning up. THANKS!

Unfortunately, there has been a glitch with the league’s website with respect to the schedules – mainly the college schedule. 

Rest assured that all the posted schedules on the main “website” pages are correct and have been correct since their release, but the printer friendly version of the schedules were out of date. 

Those that have used the printer friendly version of the schedule should disregard what they have previously and should reprint the updated version. 

We do apologize for this inconvenience.

Amended RULE
  1. After each game, the winning team must inform the league by the end of day on Monday, following game day, who won the game with the correct scores – ONLY by email.  If the winning team fails to meet the due time, the opposing team will get the victory.  Here is an example on how scores should be reported:
     
    1. Date: Sunday, July 17, 2007
    2. League: (College, Boys, Girls)
    3. Teams: Team A vs. Team B
    4. Scores: 53-49
    5. Winner: Team A

    When reporting scores, to help expedite, please put the following in the subject line: “League (College or Boys or Girls) __YOUR TEAM NAME Scores”.

WHERE THE HECK ARE THE SCHEDULES??

Our initial plan was to release the schedule by today, Friday May 25, 2007  but unfortunately we are unable to do so due to the fact that not all teams have paid their league fees and/or late fees nor have they contacted the league.  It is crucial that this is taken care of before the schedules are posted. 

Also, we have low responsiveness from the coaches with respect to the player’s rosters. 
If you have not paid your league fees and/or late fees nor have you turned in your roster, please do so as soon as possible since this will affect the release of the league schedules. 

COACHES: The deadline to submit your rosters back to the league is MONDAY MAY 28th.

PLAYERS: Please get on your coaches to submit their fees, late fees, and/or rosters ASAP as we all need/want the schedules up.

We do apologize for this inconvenience, but we want to post a final schedule to the league rather than cause confusion.  This is primarily being done in case we have to drop teams.

Sunday, December 16th, 2007: Final day of  Old Timers League games (including playoffs).  On this day after the games have ended, the league will distribute gifts to all finalists.

Wednesday, May 14h, 2008: Final day to register for the Old Timer’s Tournament, please have your coach (team leader) email the league at basketball@lacopts.org noting your team name, coach’s first and last name, email address, and phone number.  You must also submit your Tournament fee by this date to be considered registered.  The $300.00 league fee per team should be mailed to: The Coptic League P.O. Saturday, May 17th, 2008: First and only day of games for the Old Timer’s Tournament.  Please see league website for more information at www.thecopticleague.org.

Friday, September 28th, 2007: Coaches must reply to an email sent in regards to clearing each player for the Old Timer’s League.

Sunday, September 30th, 2007: First day of regular season Old Timers League games.

Monday, September 17th, 2007: Final day for player’s online registration for the Old Timer’s League.  If a player does not do the online registration, then they must register as a late player manually and will be charged a late fee.

Saturday, September 8th, 2007: Second Annual Diocese of Los Angeles Basketball League All-star Game and Spiritual Day & Awards Ceremony.

You are not considered registered until you get a confirmation email; therefore your email address must be valid.

Monday, April 16th, 2007:  Player’s free online registration begins.

Monday, April 2nd, 2007:

A.   Please note that after this date, any registered team in which no coach was present at the banquet and in which no coach has registered thus far will be dropped from the league.  Those coaches that did register a team, but did not attend the coach’s banquet must follow the late coach’s registration and insure that the league receives it no later than this date (Apr. 2nd).  If there is no officially registered coach by this date, the teams will be dropped from the league.

The following teams are tentatively registered because no coach was present at the banquet and therefore are subject to being dismissed from the league.  For these teams, you will be dropped from the league by the end of the day on Monday, April 2nd, 2007 if the prospective coach does not submit the proper late coach registration by this date.

B.   Final day to make modifications and/or additions to the coaching roster without a late fee.  Any coach that did not attend the coach’s banquet and still wants to coach must follow the late coach’s registration protocol. Coach’s late registration continues, but a $50.00 in remuneration for this tardiness.  Any coach that did not attend the coach’s banquet and still wants to coach must follow the late coach’s registration protocol.  Make checks payable to “The Coptic League” and mailed to: The Coptic League P.O. Box 2786 Orange, CA. 92859.

Monday, March 26th, 2007: Last day to submit an email for specific dates and times your team cannot have games scheduled.  Not all requests will be granted, but the league will try its best to accommodate each request.  When submitting a game schedule request you must note a reason for the request.

Sunday, March 18th, 2007: Mandatory coach and assistant coach’s banquet.  This is also the final day to register to participate in the summer of 2007 basketball league.  By this date your church should have submitted their coach’s name(s), phone number(s) and email addresses and should attend the coach’s banquet.  Please note that by attending the meeting you are representing a team that will be accounted for in the league unless the league is told otherwise by the end of this day. This further means that your team will be responsible for all fees and deadlines if you do not withdraw before the end of this day.  Therefore, please check with your parish church priest before registering a team. This year the banquet will be held at Saint Mark’s Church in Los Angeles from 3pm to 5pm (1600 S. Robertson Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. 90035).
